Introducing the Trish Allison Flat Lay Course! Photographing your client’s details is an underrated and important element of wedding photography. FAQ

My clients don’t really invest in their stationery, but I’d love to add more detail photos to my portfolio. Will you teach how to overcome this hurdle?
Adding detail photos into your marketing workflow is one of the most unique angles of this course. When you complete all the lessons, you’ll have a plan to make beautiful details a priority with your clientele.

Will you teach how to style invitations if you’re only given one or two pieces of paper rather than a full suite?
This is the question I get asked most frequently, so I have a whole “watch me style” video dedicated to this very subject. We will cover intentional layout techniques, strategic prop sourcing, and composition.

Will you dive into the best camera settings for flat lay photos?
Camera settings, lens suggestions, shooting technique. We definitely discuss it all! Afterall, what good is a photo of your client’s stationery as a keepsake if the words on them aren’t even legible?

Do you talk about lighting?
Absolutely! Light is an important component to the success of your final images. I’ll teach you how to find the best light, create the most natural shadows, and the trick to overcome on-site lighting challenges.

I get overwhelmed selecting a balanced layout, while incorporating all of the pieces my couples provide. Will I get tips on composition?
This course has an entire lesson dedicated to this very subject. You’ll also get to watch me style a variety of invitation suites and accessories and will feel confident doing so on your own by the end!

I want to build my styling kit but everything is so expensive. Will you cover what’s worth the investment and what’s not?
Yes, yes, yes!! We talk about selecting props with intention and in doing so, you’ll realize where your priorities lie in building your styling kit. I also give you links to a bunch of styling items, many of which are from Amazon, Etsy, and other affordable retailers!

I want to spend more time on these photos on a wedding day, but I always feel rushed. Do you have tips that you share in the course?
Detail photo workflow is so important! In the course, I discuss all my tips on how I photograph my flat lays in advance of my client’s weddings. But if this route isn’t for you, I also share the best communication tools you can use with your clients to make day-of shooting as seamless as possible.
